I was educated as an Elementary School teacher at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst. I graduated in May, 1976 and headed west to Los Angeles, California. Although my first love was photography, I knew that utilizing my talents for teaching would be the more practical application just starting out after college. I ended up teaching 4th, 5th and 6th-grade talented students with the Los Angeles Unified School District for six years.

I left teaching in 1982 and spent the next two years working in the entertainment industry as a runner and production assistant for a number of Variety and Music TV specials. At about that time, both the Writers and Actors strike came along. So I went back to teaching for 6 months. This led me to my Information Technology career, which I have been in for the past twenty years. I currently work as a Project Manager in a Data Center for a bank.

My interest and passion for photography started as a boy scout when I was ten years old. I told my Dad that I wanted to get my merit badge in Photography. He took me out shopping for a starter dark room kit. He also cleaned out a spot, under the stairs in our basement for me to set up my dark room.

I remember opening my first roll of film in my dark room. I was scared to death that I would expose the negatives. My Dad was standing next to me, when the first image appeared on the photo paper. I was thrilled!

I started taking photography classes at Santa Monica College in the spring of 2002. Since then, I have been in and out of the classroom. I love when it's just me, my camera and a subject. There is a peace I experience that is unexplainable.
